Ephesians 4:11-13
11 And he himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, some pastors and teachers, 12 to equip the saints for the work of ministry, to build up the body of Christ, 13 until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of God’s Son, growing into maturity with a stature measured by Christ’s fullness.
We all have giftings the Lord created us with. Those gifts have been developing and maturing and hopefully have been deployed for YOU to help equip the saints in the work of the ministry! How exciting is that? The calling isn’t just to do ministry. Going into our sphere of influence to serve and tell others about Jesus is awesome. But Jesus wants us to go help train others to do it with us! Pastor Justin and I had a recent conversation about how Jesus used discipleship as a form of evangelism. He went to where the lost were. He entered their space. And he taught them the scriptures. The woman at the well couldn’t believe Jesus would even chat with her, considering the social politics of the time. But Jesus looked deeper and modeled a lifestyle of equipping others for the work of the ministry. Did you know the woman at the well went all around Samaria telling people about Jesus?
Who are we taking with us to do ministry? Who are we having ministry conversations with about how to reach people? How do we encourage others with what God has been teaching us? God wants to use YOU to make disciples. Will you let him?
