Proverbs 17:22
"A joyful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit dries up the bones."

Have you ever noticed how laughter can turn a tough situation around? Proverbs 17:22 reminds us that a joyful heart is like medicine for the soul. The world often echoes the Scriptural truth when it says, “Laughter is the best medicine,” showing that joy brings healing. But it’s not just any joy, it’s a deeper joy rooted in God’s love and goodness.

C.S. Lewis once said, “Joy is the serious business of Heaven.” This joy isn’t fleeting or surface level; it’s a reflection of the eternal gladness that God offers us. Even when life feels heavy with stress, sorrow, or disappointment, a cheerful heart rooted in Christ can sustain us.

Proverbs warns us that a “broken spirit dries up the bones.” Emotional and spiritual burdens can drain us, leaving us weary. But when we choose to tap into the joy that God gives us through the Holy Spirit, it lifts our souls and even brings renewal to our bodies. We don't ignore pain or avoid problems, but we shift our focus to God’s promises and faithfulness.

Today, take a moment to smile, laugh, and rejoice in the Lord. Even in the little things—a shared joke, a kind word, or a moment of gratitude—you can experience God’s medicine for the soul. Laughter and joy are not just fleeting emotions but gifts from God that help restore and strengthen us.

May your heart be filled with joy and may it bring healing to you and those around you.
