Ephesians 2:10
“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared ahead of time for us to do.”
How important is having a purpose? According to the American Psychiatric Institute, 58% of young adults reported a lack of meaning or purpose in their lives, and half of young adults also reported that their mental health was negatively influenced by not knowing what to do with their lives. Three-fourths (75%) of Millennials are desperately seeking meaning and purpose in life—making them most likely among American adults to question their very reason for living.
When people, companies, organizations, even teams lack a purpose, they spiral into dysfunction. As believers, Ephesians 2:10 is a great reminder of our purpose! Having our identity in Christ, we are created to carry out the work of the ministry with the hurting and broken around us. We are to be extensions of the body of Christ into our communities, offices, and schools. We are to fulfill the calling God has placed on our life (ahead of time) for us to carry out.
Knowing that God has a plan for us, and that He knows the work he has planned for us to do should give us confidence that it doesn’t surprise the all knowing God we serve. He has placed you and prepared you for that moment! What “good works” has God put in motion for you today? Be ready for that moment!
