DANIEL FOSTER | NEXT GEN PASTOR
Luke 7:6-10
“Jesus went with them, and when he was not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to tell him, “Lord, don’t trouble yourself, since I am not worthy to have you come under my roof. 7 That is why I didn’t even consider myself worthy to come to you. But say the word, and my servant will be healed.[a] 8 For I too am a man placed under authority, having soldiers under my command. I say to this one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes; and to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.”
Jesus heard this and was amazed at him, and turning to the crowd following him, he said, “I tell you, I have not found so great a faith even in Israel.”10 When those who had been sent returned to the house, they found the servant in good health.”
The centurion amazed Jesus with his faith. He used the principle of authority, and in doing so acknowledged the authority of Jesus. God calls us to honor our father and our mother, Jesus said, render to Cesar, that which is Caesars, and other examples like this that show how God uses the authority in our lives to save our heart to respond to His authority.
I love this passage because it is such a great example of faith! Faith is knowing that Jesus has both the power to do the mighty work and the willingness. And if our will is aligned with His, He tells us to ask anything in His name and it will be done (John 14:14).
So our goal is to align our will with the will of the Father, and see how He can use our faith, just like the centurion, to do incredible things. God wants to use us to be beacons of life change. Will you let Him use you today?
