2 Thessalonians 3:3
“But the Lord is faithful; he will strengthen you and guard you from the evil one.”

When Jesus taught His disciples to pray, He included these powerful words: “And do not bring us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one” (Matthew  6:13). This wasn’t just a prayer for provision or forgiveness, it was a prayer for protection. Jesus knew that as we walk through life, we will face challenges, temptations, and attacks from the enemy. But He also knew something more: God is faithful, and His protection is constant.

Paul’s words in 2 Thessalonians 3:3 echo that same confidence. “The Lord is faithful,” Paul writes, reassuring believers that God’s protection isn’t a fleeting promise but a steadfast reality. God doesn’t leave us vulnerable or alone. He strengthens us for the battle and guards us from harm. That means His presence surrounds us, His Word guides us, and His Spirit empowers us to stand firm against whatever comes our way.

So, what do we do with this truth? First, we acknowledge our need for God’s protection. Just as we pray, “Deliver us from the evil one,” we ask God to guard our hearts, minds, and lives. Second, we rest in His faithfulness. When fear or doubt creeps in, we remind ourselves that God’s promises are unshakable. He is our refuge and strength.

Today, as you reflect on God’s faithful covering, take a moment to pray the Lord’s Prayer slowly. Linger on those words: “deliver us from the evil one.” Let them remind you that God is your protector. And no matter what you face, He is faithful to guard you.

God is with you. He is for you. And He is your shield.
