Romans 10:15
“...As it is written: How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news.”
“It’s snowing outside!” my two girls Zayda and Rachel exclaimed in delight as they ran down the street in our neighborhood. We were outside just after Thanksgiving putting up some Christmas lights when the flurries started to fall. As I watched how happy my girls were to “spread the good news” of the change in weather, I immediately thought about Romans 10:15. Paul was quoting a passage in Isaiah 52:7, a passage of hope, elaborating on the idea by including those who “proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, your God reigns!”
Our assuredness of the life-changing gospel, the beautiful gospel that has changed our heart of stone into something fresh and alive, is our good news to proclaim to our circle of influence. It fuels our initiative to start conversations about the gospel, to minister to those in need, and bring the message of hope to those in need this Christmas season. How can God use you to bring “glad tidings of great joy” that the savior in whom’s birth we celebrate has sufficiently paid the debt for our sins? As a reminder of the excitement of the good news we celebrate, I will continue to be reminded of my girls running down the street shouting to unsuspecting neighbors about the snow. May God use us this season to harness the same zeal to share the good news!
