Colossians 1:15-17

15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. 16 For by] him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. 17 And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together.

I would dare say just about every one of us had to do a solar system science project back in elementary school. A combination of foam balls, pipe cleaners, clothes hangers, and fishing line all came together in a beautiful cosmic display! When it comes to the real thing, there are no fishing lines in the universe! All the planets revolve around the sun and moons around the planets in exact precision with nothing visible keeping them in orbit. How is that possible? One answer: GOD. Scripture tells us Christ is the creator and sustainer of the universe. He spoke it all into existence and upholds it by the word of His power. The most incredible news today is this same God created us and sustains our lives when we trust in Him! What is there in your life today that Christ can’t handle? What need can He not meet? The same God who made and sustains the universe made and sustains your life and mine. Whatever you face today, know that Jesus is big enough to handle it. If He spoke and flung the stars into place, and if He keeps the planets in orbit, He can certainly handle the small affairs of our lives. In fact, it is His delight to do so. When your world feels like it is falling apart, look to the one who needs no fishing line to keep it together.
