Genesis 24:63-67
And Isaac went out to meditate in the field toward evening. And he lifted up his eyes and saw, and behold, there were camels coming. And Rebekah lifted up her eyes, and when she saw Isaac, she dismounted from the camel and said to the servant, “Who is that man, walking in the field to meet us?” The servant said, “It is my master.” So she took her veil and covered herself. And the servant told Isaac all the things that he had done. Then Isaac brought her into the tent of Sarah his mother and took Rebekah, and she became his wife, and he loved her. So Isaac was comforted after his mother’s death.
Our 8 year old is a very independent child. He loves to show what He can do all by himself. I’m sure if you have children you probably have one like this also. It’s a great quality by the way. No matter what has to be done in or around our house, when someone is asked to do something he jumps up and says, “I want to do it…let me do it….please, I can do it!” So, we will gently step back and give him the opportunity to do it. Every now and again he will take on more of a job than he can handle, so either my wife or I have to step in and help. Some jobs are just too much for him to handle.
After his mother Sarah died, Isaac’s father Abraham thought it was time for him to marry, so He enlisted his servant to go back to his home country and find Isaac a wife. I wonder if Isaac said, “But dad, I want to do that. I mean shouldn’t I be able to find my own bride?!” However, we know he ultimately submitted to his father’s wishes, and as a result He ended up with a wife that was beyond his wildest dreams!
Some jobs are just too big for us to handle, and when it comes to life that’s pretty much all of them. Every time we try to step in and take matters into our own hands things end up broken and messy. When we leave it in the hands of our heavenly Father, He does things beyond our imagination. Scripture says that no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor has it even entered the heart of man all that God has prepared for His children (1 Cor. 2:9). God can do more in a moment than we can in a lifetime, and He can do more than we can imagine with less than we could ever fathom. So, let him do it. Let him have it. Let him work this thing out. If you do, you will be blessed beyond your wildest dreams!
PRAYER FOR TODAY:
Father God, it’s hard for me not to try and do things myself, but I believe that you have a plan of blessing for my life that is beyond what I can even imagine. I give this life to you and ask that your perfect will be done in and through my life. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
