Psalm 96:3
Declare his glory among the nations,
his marvelous deeds among all peoples.
I love checking the mailbox, do you? What did you get in the mail today? Chances are you and I will sort through a stack of announcements that advertise new products, discounts, and services. Sometimes we find wedding announcements or the arrival of a new baby. Maybe there is an invitation to celebrate a birthday, graduation, or retirement. As a culture, we announce all kinds of things. Whether snail mail, email, text or social media, big and small we like to tell the world about it. Do we also declare God’s glory?
What are you talking about these days?
Sometimes the greatest announcement we could ever make gets left out of our daily conversation or can get lost in the latest headlines or speculations. Psalm 96:3 reminds us to declare God’s glory and tell of his marvelous deeds to all nations and peoples. What would you announce about God if given the chance to tell the world about him? Are these words ready on your lips today?
Here are 3 questions to ready your testimony:
What has God done in your past that tells of His glory?
Have you surrendered your life to Jesus?
How is God at work in your life currently?
Will you trust Jesus with today?
Where is God nudging you to follow him next?
Will you trust Jesus with tomorrow?
Reading God’s Word tells us about His character and promises. It also teaches us all about God’s love for the world, and for us–and it is too good to keep all to ourselves! The Gospel is good news that is meant to be shared.
Last week I joined a room full of women for the purpose of praise. It was a night to pause the daily rush of routine and enjoy fellowship. We laughed and enjoyed conversation over dinner, but it was special for another reason. This evening was dedicated to declaring God’s glory. We read psalms and sang songs that told of God’s marvelous deeds. It was a time to refill our conversations with hope that had perhaps become diluted by circumstances and worries of today’s world. Yes, the last year and a half has been full of pandemic and unrest, but there is so much more to declare! We often find ourselves fearing the known, the unknown, and the what-if. It is easy to let this take over our conversations. Psalm 96:3 reminds us to speak of Him.
What are you talking about these days? It is not time to declare our unbelief in God’s promises or fear any giants, but to ready our feet and stand firm. It is time to fill our head and heart with God’s Truth and tell of His Wonders to the hurting world. Let us not be a generation of fear, but a people of hope—solid living hope!
PRAYER FOR TODAY:
Father God, you are my source of true rest and hope. Thank you for your peace and comfort each day. In Christ, I will not fear the known, the unknown, or the what-if. Peril and pestilence have no hold on me. Instead, let me stand firmly on your promises and be an agent of hope for the hurting world around me. Lead me in conversation to tell of YOUR Wonders, rather than grumble or speculate. Let us not be a generation of fear, but a people of hope—solid living hope! In Jesus Name, Amen
