Psalms 92:1-2
It is good to give thanks to the Lord, to sing praise to your name, Most High, to declare your faithful love in the morning and your faithfulness at night.

What are some things that are routine for you? Maybe you grab breakfast at the same place with the same people on the same day every week, or maybe you cycle on Saturday mornings, or maybe you are one of those strange people who likes to take cold showers every morning! One of my routines is to make my last cup of coffee for the day around 3:00 in the afternoon (just enough to get me through the day!). These routines have a way of working their way into our lives such that our days or weeks feel incomplete, or in some cases even downright wrong, without them. Some routines are better for us than others, and it is important for us to consistently consider the routines that we are building and prioritizing in our lives.
In this passage, the psalmist speaks to the goodness of giving thanks to the Lord, and declaring his faithful love in the morning and the night. As believers, there is no greater routine for us to develop than one of constant worship of the Lord. Further along in this passage the psalmist says that he is prompted to joyous worship because of what God has done and the works of his hands. If you desire to develop a routine of worship, then I would encourage you to make the habit of spending time reflecting on the good things God has done in his Word and in your life! Your testimony of how God has worked in your life should be a catalyst for your own joyous, worshipful response to Him! Let us be a people of routine worship; giving thanks to God, singing his praise, and declaring his faithfulness night and day. May it become such a part of our lives that we feel incomplete without it!
