Psalms 5:11
But let all who take refuge in you rejoice;
let them shout for joy forever.
May you shelter them,
and may those who love your name boast about you.

I have more t-shirts from the gym I used to go to in South Mississippi than I have from anywhere else. The reason I have so many is that I loved my gym! I spent many hours working out at the classes the gym offered, I loved the people that I met through the gym, the owner of the gym turned into a dear friend, and I experienced positive results from the time I spent there. All this to say, I had no problem wearing the gym t-shirts everywhere I went. I was proud to tell people where I went to workout, and was quick to invite them to join.

See, when we love something, we boast about it. We do not mind if people find out we love it. In fact, we look for opportunities to tell people! We gladly take to social media to hype up our favorite teams, to shoutout our spouse or kids, to spotlight one of our favorite restaurants, etc. You can typically tell a Volunteers fan by the bright orange shirts they wear, or a Taylor Swift fan by the music that blars from their car speakers! When someone loves something, they boast about it through their words and deeds.

King David writes in Psalm 5 that the way to know those that love God is to consider whether they boast about Him. The question that I wrestle with as I write this is whether or not my life “boasts” of my love for God as much as it “boasts” of my love for other things? I want my life to reflect my love for God, and for people to recognize me as one who boasts in God. Pray today that you would love the Lord enough to boast about Him!
