Isaiah 40:28-31
Have you not known? Have you not heard?
The Lord is the everlasting God,
    the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He does not faint or grow weary;
    his understanding is unsearchable.
He gives power to the faint,
    and to him who has no might he increases strength.
Even youths shall faint and be weary,
    and young men shall fall exhausted;
but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength;
    they shall mount up with wings like eagles;
they shall run and not be weary;
    they shall walk and not faint.

One time a buddy of mine and myself were asked to speak at a youth conference in the Dallas area on Friday/Saturday. Where we were speaking was about 4 hours from where I went to school. I was slated to preach Saturday early evening at the retreat center, but then I had to hurry back to school because I was preaching at my church the next morning. Since we were young college kids, we thought we could handle the late travel. WRONG! We ended up leaving Dallas at around midnight Saturday night and had to drive four hours back to school. The experience was terrible. We were so tired. We rode down the interstate blaring loud music, and that didn’t work. We rolled down the windows, and that didn’t work. I was about ready to throw in the towel by finding a hotel, and staying the night. I was gonna call my church and tell them to call an audible. However, when we stopped for gas, we got some candy and that sugar-rush propelled us to the finish line. By the Lord’s grace, He multiplied those three hours of sleep I got that night and was able to preach that morning!

Maybe you can relate to being tired today. Perhaps you have been in a wild and crazy season of life. From running kids to different events, to trying to meet various deadlines at work, the word that would describe where you are right now is exhaustion. As a matter of fact, you find yourself so tired that you may be wanting to throw in the towel. Well I have some good news for you today, though you may be tired, the God whom you trust in is not, nor will He ever be!

This is the truth the prophet Isaiah shares with us this morning! Though it seems as though life has beaten you up; though it seems as though you are too tired to keep going on, don’t throw in the towel, trust in HIM! Isaiah lays out that the God of the Universe is the everlasting God who does not get tired or weary. Aren’t you thankful for that truth today?! He goes on to share about how God in his omnipresence, untiring strength, and eternalness is willing to meet His weary children where they are and minister to them. In vs. 29 he says that God gives power to the faint. Though you are exhausted, trust in the Lord, run to Him and He will give you the power to keep going; He gives you the strength to continue. It doesn’t stop there though. This same unlimited strength is always available for the child of God. He is in the business of renewing your strength! Isn’t that awesome? You do not have to sit in your exhaustion and weariness, but rather you can look up and run to the Lord and let Him renew your strength today.

You may be exhausted beyond imagine today due to the craziness, but listen, the Lord God wants to renew your strength. Don’t throw in the towel, trust in Him. Choose to run to Him today!

PRAYER FOR TODAY:
Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for Your love for me. I am exhausted today. Please renew my strength and give me the strength to live for You in my family, at my work and in my life. Amen!
