Genesis 1:1-3
In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.

The first chapter of Genesis is one of the most beautifully poetic passages in all of the Bible. With its ebb and flow and its creative movement, one can get lost in the sound of the movement of God in creation. However, some would like us to think it is nothing more than a poem, nothing more than an inspiring fictional story of a higher being. Friend, let me tell you right now, this is no poem! This is exactly how the world came to be. If you don’t believe it, check out the Answers in Genesis ministry online and see the hundreds of articles by scientists all around the world for the scientific proof (answersingenesis.org).

When you read the first chapter of Genesis there is one statement that stands out: “And God said…” This statement is listed 10 times in the first chapter alone, and the emphasis is unmistakable. Think about the significance of this; God spoke and the world came to be! He created using no prior substance, spoke everything into existence, and did it all to display His transcendance. In Psalm 90:2 the Psalmist says before the mountains were brought forth or ever the Lord created the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting He is God. Psalm 19:1 says that the heavens declare the glory of God and the sky above proclaims His handiwork.  Everywhere we look we see the handiwork of God. Even though mankind has brought sin to God’s world we still clearly see the evidence of Him. Romans 1:20 says that the evidence for God is clear in what has been made, and so much so that man is without excuse before God. And to think this amazing God sent His own Son to die for our sins on the cross just makes Him even more incredible!

If you don’t start with God you won’t end with Him. That’s why this is so important. When you start with our eternal, all powerful, all knowing, infinitely wise Creator you realize there is nothing in your life or this life that He can’t handle. He is El Olam, the everlasting God, and He is all sufficient and fully able to handle any situation or circumstance you face today. Start every day with Him. Turn to Him. Call on His name. Rest in His unchanging power and love. God’s got this, so sit back and watch Him go!

PRAYER FOR TODAY:
Lord God, you are the everlasting Creator of all things. You are El Shaddai, all sufficient God. You are El Elyon, the most high God. You are El Olam, the eternal God. I know there is nothing that can thwart your perfect will and there is no power equal to Yours. Thank you for your incredible power and love! In Jesus name, amen.

MEMORY VERSE FOR THE WEEK:
Romans 1:20 – For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse.
