Colossians 1:15-20
He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent. For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross.

Jesus over everything
He reigns forevermore
Our song for all eternity
Jesus Christ is Lord

In the passage, Paul shows us the greatness of Jesus and what He has done for us. It gives us the “why” that we trust and follow Jesus…it is because he is the creator, the King, and the sustainer of ALL things! This text shows us that Jesus has always been God’s perfect plan to reconcile the world back to Him. He wasn’t a back up plan to failed rescue attempts. He was the only plan through which we could receive God’s grace and mercy.

Jesus’ Lordship in this passage shows us that our lives are not about us, they are about Him. Resting in this will give you a freedom like you have never known. Could you imagine what our lives might look like if we stopped living for the approval of others, or to keep up with the Joneses? What if we threw all that mess out and just lived 100% for Jesus? We have nothing to prove because Jesus was and is perfection for us. Who do we have to impress? The King of the universe is already madly in love with us. We see that Jesus is over everything. It was created by Him, through Him, and for Him.

He’s over everything. I love the bridge to this song…
Over fear, over shame
Over all anxiety
Over troubles, and all pain
Over sickness, and disease
For He reigns on the throne
All praise to Him alone
One name over everything

Over death and all sin
Over hell, over the grave
Darkness bows, demons flee
At the mention of His name
For He reigns on the throne
All praise to Him alone
One name over everything

Jesus is King over everything. He’s King in your suffering and in your success. He’s king when you have doubts and when you are faithful. He’s the same yesterday, today, and forevermore. He will always be King, which means you can always trust Him. Salvation comes by no other name. It is at the name of Jesus that every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus is Lord. What do you need to let Him be King of today?

PRAYER FOR TODAY:
Lord Jesus, I hold on to so many things in this life thinking that I can control the moments or the outcomes and in reality, the only thing I have control over is submitting to Your Lordship or not. Jesus, Your Word tells us that apart from You that we can do nothing. Lord, I want to be known by You and I want You to use me however You see fit. Lord, I trust You with every part of my life. I’m sorry for the things that I have held on to. I’m sorry for the things that I have put in between us that have stunted the intimacy that You so desire. Forgive me God and show me what areas of my life need to be submitted to You. In Jesus’ name, amen.

MEMORY VERSE FOR THE WEEK:
Psalm 13:6
I will sing to the Lord,
because he has dealt bountifully with me.
