Psalm 55:22
Cast your burden on the Lord , and he will sustain you; he will never permit the righteous to be moved.

Have you ever been in a season of life that felt burdensome? King David here who wrote Psalm 55 experienced much trial, pain and trouble and definitely could’ve relate. As we know life can be difficult at times can’t it? With those difficulties we experience heavy burdens in which we find nearly impossible to bear. We try to bear the burdens of life though only to see ourselves crushed under the weight of the burden.

King David let’s us in on an awesome truth relating to our burdens in life: We can lay them down at His feet. The phrase cast your burdens can be translated as “Give the Lord your worries”. We do not have to serve as victims or subjects to the tough stuff of life we may be going through. As a matter of fact, we don’t have to hold on to the tough stuff, we can give them to the Lord.

Look at the promise in the second part of that verse: When we choose to cast our burdens on the Lord, He takes care of us. I’ve got good news for you friend: your burden may be heavy for you but it isn’t too heavy for the Lord. He will gladly take that hardship, that struggle, that situation and in turn take care of you by providing Himself! Praise God! Why? Because He loves and cares for you.

When we choose to let go, we experience freedom. When we choose to lay the burdens of our life down, we can walk in victory. David acknowledged the reality that even when life is burdensome, we don’t have to live holding on to those said burdens. Listen, we can’t carry these burdens on our own. You aren’t strong enough. May we choose this morning to humble ourselves and take our concerns to  the Lord. May we choose to lay those burdens down!

1 Peter 5:6‭-‬7
Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.

PRAYER FOR TODAY:
Dear heavenly father! Thank you for caring enough for me to take my burdens! Help me to realize that I can’t carry those on my own. I need you. I humble myself and lay down the burdens of my life at your feet! I love you! Amen.
