Hebrews 3:1-6
1 Therefore, holy brothers, you who share in a heavenly calling, consider Jesus, the apostle and high priest of our confession, 2 who was faithful to him who appointed him, just as Moses also was faithful in all God’s house. 3 For Jesus has been counted worthy of more glory than Moses—as much more glory as the builder of a house has more honor than the house itself. 4 (For every house is built by someone, but the builder of all things is God.) 5 Now Moses was faithful in all God’s house as a servant, to testify to the things that were to be spoken later,6 but Christ is faithful over God’s house as a son. And we are his house, if indeed we hold fast our confidence and our boasting in our hope.

The G.O.A.T., better known as the Greatest of All Time conversation has been one that has been had by many over the last few years. The debate topic stretches over really any genre you could think of. From debating which decade was the greatest of all time, to talking about the greatest song/singer of all time, the question of G.O.A.T. is always an interesting one. The reason being is because there are many biases and subjection that go into one’s argument. At the end of the day, one’s opinion of G.O.A.T. on any subject is subjective and will always be up for debate no matter which side you are on.

There is One GOAT that I know for sure is not up for debate at all. His name is Jesus Christ. Listen friend, Jesus Christ is the greatest of all time. There is no debate. There is no doubt about it! He is the G.O.A.T. The writer of the book of Hebrews speaks to that reality in chapter three. He mentions that Jesus is much greater than Moses, one of the patriarchs of our faith. In the chapter before, the writer mentions that Jesus is greater than the angels. Jesus Christ is the Greatest of all time! Consider why He is this morning:

  • Jesus Christ is God- v.3 (John 1:4, Hebrews 1:3)

-This reality is what sets Jesus apart. Though He was fully man, He is fully God. Listen, at no point in time did Jesus stop being God. He is and always has been Him. Hallelujah! Hebrews 1:3 tells us that Jesus is the exact representation of the nature of God. In Hebrews 3:3 the writer says that Jesus is the builder of the house. He is God and always will be.

  • Jesus Christ Conquered the Grave- 1 Corinthians 15

-The Bible says that Jesus Christ came to earth to proclaim the good news about Himself. He lived a perfect life that we couldn’t live and went to the Cross as a sacrifice for our sins. He didn’t stay dead very long though. He rose, stepped out of that tomb and is alive and well today! He conquered death! See, Buddha is dead, Mohammad is dead, Confucious is dead, Joseph Smith is dead… But JESUS IS ALIVE!

Those of us who know Jesus ought to shout because of that news. Sin has now been rendered powerless for those who know Him (Romans 6:6). We can now choose to walk in victory, saying no to sin and yes to Jesus!

Jesus Christ is the GOAT! He is greater than that idol in your life. He is greater than that hurt that’s in your past. He is the Greatest of All Time. Because He is, our response ought to be to be all in for Him. Our response should be to let him be Lord over our life, from our family to our free time; from our Facebook to our checkbook. He deserves it all. He is the Greatest of All Time, and because of that fact His way is best for our life. I encourage you this morning to choose to surrender all to the Lord and worship Him, for He is worthy!

PRAYER FOR TODAY:
Dear Heavenly Father, as I reflect on your greatness today, stir my affections for you more deeply! Help for me to see that my problems, those idols fighting for my worship, those false thoughts do not compare to the greatness of who you are! Let that truth lead me to surrender all to you and lead me to worship. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
