Matthew 19:26
But Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

There’s nothing that our God can’t do
There’s not a mountain that He can’t move
Oh, praise the name that makes a way
There’s nothing that our God can’t do

When we read about Jesus’ life in Scripture, we can see that His heart was most moved by people that put total faith in Him. Everywhere He went people flocked to Him to learn or be healed or just to be near Him. He was always looking for those who truly believed that He was the Son of God  and that all authority and power was His. He was looking for moments to combine His authority and power with the faith of people to do miraculous things. We see this come into play on Matthew 8…

When he had entered Capernaum, a centurion came forward to him, appealing to him, “Lord, my servant is lying paralyzed at home, suffering terribly.” And he said to him, “I will come and heal him.” But the centurion replied, “Lord, I am not worthy to have you come under my roof, but only say the word, and my servant will be healed. For I too am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. And I say to one, ‘Go,’ and he goes, and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes, and to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.” When Jesus heard this, he marveled and said to those who followed him, “Truly, I tell you, with no one in Israel have I found such faith. I tell you, many will come from east and west and recline at table with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven, while the sons of the kingdom will be thrown into the outer darkness. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.” And to the centurion Jesus said, “Go; let it be done for you as you have believed.” And the servant was healed at that very moment.

This centurion had a need and came to Jesus with an understanding that only Jesus could meet that need. He believed that he was speaking with the only person that held authority over his servant’s sickness. He knew that Jesus didn’t even have to be in the same room as his servant, He knew that with just a word, His servant could be and would be healed.  As we see in the text, this centurion’s faith moved the heart of Jesus and a miracle was put into motion.

This kind of faith is at the center of what this song is about. It’s calling us to remember and believe that anything is possible with Jesus. Whatever your mountain is and whatever it is that imprisons you, Jesus is the one who has the power and authority to move the mountains and the keys to unlock the prison doors. Miracles do happen, strongholds are broken, healing does take place, relationships are restored but only in Jesus’ name. With God, all things are possible.

PRAYER FOR TODAY:
Lord, grow my faith. Teach me to trust you when things seem impossible. Let me be more like the centurion and just know that You are good and that You are in control. That at the mention of your name healing can happen, addictions can be broken, hope can be restored, and relationships can be mended. Help me to remember your faithfulness. In Jesus’ name, amen.
