Genesis 1:26-31

26 Then God said, “Let us make man[h] in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”

27 So God created man in his own image,
    in the image of God he created him;
    male and female he created them.

28 And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” 29 And God said, “Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the face of all the earth, and every tree with seed in its fruit. You shall have them for food. 30 And to every beast of the earth and to every bird of the heavens and to everything that creeps on the earth, everything that has the breath of life, I have given every green plant for food.” And it was so. 31 And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day.”

I have made the commitment to read through the Bible this year in chronological order by using the Bible Recap method. I love reading about creation and how God is orderly, not chaotic. Have you ever noticed the detailed order of creation? If not, read all of Genesis 1 and pay attention to the order of creation. I wanted to highlight these verses because this is when God made mankind. Did you ever notice that God said that creating man was very good and not just good?

We were created in God’s image, in His likeness. That alone should make us realize how special we are and loved by God. As you begin this new year, reflect on the truth that God made you and knitted you together in your mother’s womb. He has a plan for your life, and it is worth it for you to trust in Him and His plan. Something that I need to work on this year is taking better care of myself. If I am made in God’s image, then I need to be more respectful to myself and take care of myself so the Lord can use me as He sees fit. If you are a follower of Christ, then I encourage you to live your life for Him in 2024. Take one day at a time, be in His word and let it grow you and challenge you in how to be a light for Jesus in this dark world. You matter and God’s plan is perfect for you. Trust Him, have faith and follow His plan. God has you in the palm of His hands and that is the best place to be.
