Romans 8:26-27

“Likewise, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. And he who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because[a] the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.”

Do you ever struggle with knowing what to pray? Do you feel like a broken record at times that just says the same thing over and over? I sure do and this is something I have been working on the last few months. I love these verses and the reminder that the Holy Spirit knows your heart and will intercede on your behalf when you don’t know what to pray. That is so comforting to know. God knows your heart and knows what it is you want to say to Him even when you can’t find the words.

I forget to lean into the Holy Spirit way too often and try to do things on my own. The Spirit is there for me 24/7 and will guide me and speak for me. I love the last part where it says, “the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.” I want to be living in the will of God, so I need to surrender to the Spirit every day and let Him work in my life. I need to start my mornings out with prayer, and I can use God’s Word, especially the Psalms, as prayers to Him. The good news is that the Spirit will intercede for me when I don’t know what to say. Don’t stifle the Holy Spirit in your life, let Him lead your life.
