Numbers 11:21-23

21 But Moses said, “The people among whom I am number six hundred thousand on foot, and you have said, ‘I will give them meat, that they may eat a whole month!’ 22 Shall flocks and herds be slaughtered for them, and be enough for them? Or shall all the fish of the sea be gathered together for them, and be enough for them?” 23 And the Lord said to Moses, “Is the Lord‘s hand shortened? Now you shall see whether my word will come true for you or not.”

In Numbers 11, Moses is in the middle of a conversation with the Lord pertaining to His provision to come to the people of Israel. The people of Israel were complaining to Moses and the Lord about how much they were missing Egypt, and the food they were afforded there. They had just been freed from cruel captivity in Egypt, and in the midst of being free, they were complaining about what they didn’t have. The Lord responded by mentioning how He was going to provide an abundance of meat for them.

Moses is like many of us in His response to the Lord in vs. 21. How in the world are you going to provide that much meat for the people, Lord? There aren’t any sheep around to slaughter to be able to provide for everyone! No way that all can happen. The Lord responds with a question- “Is the Lord’s hand shortened?”. When it comes to what may seem impossible, we can find ourselves like Moses, debating with the Lord about how there is no way He can accomplish when He has said He will do. However, we must be reminded that there is NOTHING that is too hard for Him to do! The Lord is able to do far more than we could ever even imagine. May we choose these days to be reminded that our God’s arm is not too short, and choose to trust in Him in these days!
