Psalm 125:1-2

Those who trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion,

which cannot be moved, but abides forever.

As the mountains surround Jerusalem,

so the Lord surrounds his people,

from this time forth and forevermore.

A little over two years ago, I tragically lost my dad. I had the great misfortune of walking in the room and finding him deceased. I remember the hours and days after that horrible night. The pain experienced during that time as I had to call and tell my family of the grim news. I was in charge of planning the celebration of life, and had a portion of the speaking time. I remember the night before the funeral in my hometown deciding to go on a drive to work through thoughts in my head on what I needed to say. It was on that drive where the Lord met me where I was, gave me the words to say, and reminding me of His nearness to me even in the darkness of time.

In Psalm 125, the psalmist reminds us as believers of the truth that the Lord is ever present in our lives, and that He is near to us. These couple of verses have served as such encouragement to me as I have continued to journey on the call of my life. My hope and prayer for you today is that no matter where you may be, or how difficult this season of life has been for you, just as the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the Lord surrounds YOU now and forevermore. Choose to continue to trust in Him always.
