Romans 12:1

Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.

Surrendering ourselves to God is an act of trust, acknowledging that His plans for us are greater than our own. It’s about giving up control and allowing His power to work within us. Just as a sacrifice is consumed by fire, surrendering to God’s will allows His fire to burn away impurities and shape us into people fit for His purpose.

True surrender requires humility and a willingness to let go of our own desires, ambitions, and agendas. It’s a daily choice to lay down our selfish desires and submit to God’s will, even when it goes against our own dreams. That’s why Matthew16:24 says: Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. Surrender is not a one-time event but an ongoing process of dying to self and allowing God to mold us into the image of Christ. It’s a surrender of our plans, fears, doubts, and insecurities, knowing that God’s plans are always for our ultimate good.

As we surrender our lives to God, we experience the freedom that comes from releasing the burden of trying to control everything ourselves. We find peace in knowing that God is in control and that His ways are higher than ours.

Ultimately, surrender is an expression of love and devotion to God. It’s saying, “Not my will, but Yours be done.” And in that surrender, we find abundant life, purpose, and joy beyond measure.

May we each embrace the transformative power of surrender, offering ourselves as living sacrifices to the One who gave everything for us.
