He must increase, but I must decrease
Happy New Year! This new year provides us incredible opportunities to grow in our faith and to reach our neighbors with the gospel! The word the Lord has put in my heart for 2024 is MORE! God is calling us to MORE; more of His presence, power, peace, and wisdom in our lives. As we launch this new year, here are some questions:
What is your plan for engaging Scripture in 2024?
When and where do you plan to meet with God daily and pray?
What new ministry is the Lord calling you to?
Who does the Lord want you to witness to this year?
What is the Lord asking you to give in 2024?
The overarching question that gets to the heart of our motivation is DO YOU REALLY WANT MORE OF GOD IN 2024? In John 3 the disciples of John the Baptist come to him to inform him that the crowds that were following him are now going to Jesus. They saw this as a threat to John the Baptist’s ministry, because his influence and popularity was starting to wane. John the Baptist responds with one of the most powerful and memorable verses of Scripture in terms of what our attitude should be before God. HE MUST INCREASE, BUT I MUST DECREASE. My challenge to you is to make this your daily profession in 2024. He must increase, which means I must decrease. This is the path to MORE in your life. Dying to self and surrendering to Jesus is the path to MORE.
