2 Corinthians 1:20

For all the promises of God find their Yes in him. That is why it is through him that we utter our Amen to God for his glory.

Have you ever been affected by a broken promise? Better question, have you ever broken a promise to someone else? I know I have. Many times. There have been times when I’ve told Michele that I would take care of something around the house and those things didn’t happen…well, at least not on an acceptable time table. There have been times where I have promised  the kids that we would do something and have failed to live up to my promise. The most recent of these times was probably for Ellie’s birthday. We had promised her a birthday party at the trampoline park and due to circumstances out of our control, we had to adjust and give her a birthday weekend. She was not happy about it at first but birthday weekends  have now become the norm for the rest of the kids. Promises get broken every day, either intentionally or unintentionally.

I’m grateful for a Perfect, Heavenly Father that will never break a promise. He has proven Himself faithful time and time again all throughout scripture. In Romans 8, Paul tells us that nothing can separate us from the love of God. In Matthew 11, He promises rest to the weary. In Isaiah 40, He gives strength to the weak. In Hebrews 13, He says He will never leave us or forsake us. In Psalm 34, He says He will be near to the brokenhearted. In John 8, He says that He gives freedom. Who doesn’t want to experience those things?

We’re all going to be disappointed or let down by others at some point in our lives. God will never be one that fails us. He will always be true to His promises. Be encouraged by that today, lean into the promises of God and rest in them. He is faithful and He wants you to trust Him with all aspects of your life.
