II Timothy 3:16-17

“ 16 All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 17 that the man of God[a] may be complete, equipped for every good work.”

I love God’s word, the Bible, and I need to be spending more time in it. These verses give me excellent reasons on why I should be living in the scripture. As a believer, I know that the Bible is inspired by God and is used to teach me how to live a life pleasing to Him. I face difficult challenges in life all the time as I am sure you do, too. God’s word is what helps us face these tasks with grace and dignity as well as directs us in how to handle things correctly. I love how verse 17 tells us that “man may be complete and equipped for every good work.” Wow! The Lord never leaves us and always equips us to do life if we are walking with Him.

People often ask me how I seem to be doing so well after losing my wife to cancer. The honest answer is the grace of God is abundant over my life. It is also because my wife and I would pray together and look to God’s word for guidance as she knew life on earth was ending soon. We took advantage of the last two months she had of life to laugh, talk about everything and most importantly, listen to the Lord and ask Him for guidance and wisdom in how to handle the inevitable. We made sure to spend time as a family of four talking and praying and trusting the Lord that His plan was perfect. The Lord has used His word to bring comfort to my boys and me on those days that we just don’t want to move on and joy knowing His promises are real. Spend time in God’s word every day and hold on to the truths He reveals to you. He will always equip you for what lies ahead and long as you allow Him.
