Zechariah 9:9

Rejoice greatly, Daughter Zion! Shout in triumph, Daughter Jerusalem! Look, your King is coming to you; he is righteous and victorious, humble and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.

Rejoice Living Hope, rejoice! We have great reason to rejoice indeed. Our Lord has come to rescue us from the domain of darkness and bring us into the kingdom of light. Our savior came and defeated the grave. This is great reason to rejoice.

This Sunday we celebrated Palm Sunday, the day Jesus made His triumphal entry into Jerusalem. Zechariah 9 foretold of this event that would take place. Jesus came, riding on a colt, headed toward the cross. The crowds laid down their garments and palm branches before Jesus as He rode into the city. This sybolized their belief that Jesus was the promised Messiah and their long awaited king.

Unfortunately, the crowds missed the point though. They were expecting a king to rescue them politically and nationally. But Jesus did not come to set up an earthly kingdom. He came to rescue us spiritually. And that is our primary need.

Don’t miss it this Easter season. The most important thing we need is not more money, more stuff, more earthly pleasures, or more political agendas. What we need is king Jesus. And that is why He entered Jerusalem and went to the cross. All we need is found in our resurrected king! Oh rejoice, sons and daughters of the king, for salvation has come.
