Matthew 28:18-20

18And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in[b] the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

I love these verses. They are referred to as the Great Commission. I worked at a church in Austin, TX several years ago and my lead pastor would say to the congregants almost every Sunday, “I am the pastor, and you are the ministers. It’s our job to equip you to do the ministry that God has called you to. If you are a follower of Christ, then your life is your ministry, and you are to tell others about Jesus.” That’s a powerful truth if you think about it…all believers are called to minister to others, to the people that God has put in your life.

I grew up thinking it was the pastors’ job to tell others about Jesus and not mine. As I grew in my faith, I began to realize the importance of sharing your faith with others. The Great Commission is what spoke to me and brought awareness that as a follower of Jesus, I needed to tell others about the love of Christ as well as make disciples. I need to be investing in younger believers than myself and help encourage them in their walks with Jesus. Who has Christ put in your life that you need to be sharing him with? Who are you investing in and challenging to grow deeper with the Lord?
