“Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
Who had to sleep with a light on when they were a child? Me! I remember having to have the closet light on with the door cracked because I was afraid of the dark. I found comfort in that little bit of light shining in my room so I could still see in case there was a monster under my bed. One of the great things about having a personal relationship with Jesus is that you are always living in the light even when the world around you may be a dark place.
I love how Jesus is sharing that He is the light of the world! Knowing Him brings so much joy and light into your life. I have lived through some dark days in the last 18 months, but the one consistent thing has been Jesus and His love for me. When I have those days that I can barely breathe because the weight of grief is heavy on me, I still can feel the presence of Christ on me, and He gives me the strength and light I need to carry on with my day. The Lord promises us that if we follow Him, we will be in the light. Being a follower of Jesus does not mean that you will have an easy life, it’s really the opposite. You will face difficult times but take comfort that Christ will shine brightly for you to see Him. Take that light you have and share with others. There is so much darkness today so be a light to those around you. Share Jesus and the hope that comes from knowing Him.
