1 John 2:12-14

I am writing to you, little children,
because your sins are forgiven for his name’s sake.
I am writing to you, fathers,
because you know him who is from the beginning.
I am writing to you, young men,
because you have overcome the evil one.
I write to you, children,
    because you know the Father.
14 I write to you, fathers,
because you know him who is from the beginning.
I write to you, young men,
    because you are strong,
and the word of God abides in you,
and you have overcome the evil one.

John the Revelator, the disciple whom Jesus loved, penned the epistle of 1 John to encourage and strengthen the saints of God. One of those ways was by reminding them who they were in the Lord. He shares the three verses to remind the believers WHO they were in Christ, and how they can walk because of what He has done in their life.

Just as these verses served as great encoruagement for the first century Christians, they can serve as great encouragment for us in that at the end of day, We are His in Christ! In Christ our sins have been forgiven. In Christ we know and have access to the Father. In Christ, we are overcomers of the evil one! Hanging onto these truths can encourage us to walk in a state of inner contentment even though life around us may seem overly chaotic. Why? Because we have the most important thing- A relationship with the King of kings and Lord of lords.

So child of God choose to rest in the truths John the Revelator shared in 1 John 2. If you have surrendered your heart and life to Christ, no matter how you may feel, no matter what may be going on around you, no matter the struggle, choose to be content. The God of the universe who made us for Himself, has come to dwell in our restless hearts. In Him we are loved, secure, overcomers, strong, and His! Rest in Him today.
