John 1:14

14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son[d] from the Father, full of grace and truth.

There was a song that came out in the mid 90’s called One of Us sung by Joan Osborne. The tune is catchy but the lyrics to the song are intriguing as they seek to send the listener asking the question of what would happen if God was actually like one of us humans. Well if Joan Osborne is still wanting to know what if God was one of us, I’ve got an answer for her: He was- His name is Jesus Christ! Hallelujah!

Jesus Christ who is fully God, took on flesh and dwelt among mankind the apostle John mentions here in John 1. Jesus Christ was born of a virgin, lived 33 years of life on earth and remained sinless, chose to lay His life down by going to the cross to pay the punishment for your sins and mine. As we know Jesus did not stay dead, He rose on the third day so that we could have access to a relationship with God again. Hallelujah! The theological concept known as the Hypostatic Union (Jesus Christ as 100% God and 100% man) is imperative to our faith! Jesus Christ did come to dwell among us to lay His life down for us so that we could be brought back into a relationship with God. Why? Because God loves us! May we choose to praise the Lord this week for His great love!

2 Corinthians 5:21: For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
