John 14:1

“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me.”

Do you let your circumstances and emotions dictate your faith? When we are stressed out we tend to respond irrationally. Anxiety kicks in and we go into panic mode. And then we begin to doubt if God really has our best interest in mind. We start to question whether God cares. We question His plan and maybe even His existence. Why? Because we let our emotions and circumstances get the best of us. And we begin to think that life will be sweeter in we take things in our own hands. But you have to trust God and His plans for your life. He already knows the outcome and what you need.

Jesus tells His disciples He is about to go away. He will return but until then, they are about to embark on a long journey. It is a journey full of twists and turns. It is a journey full of surprises. There will be challenges on this journey. And you will be tempted to think you have been abandoned. You will be tempted to think at times that God has forgotten you. But if He has gone to prepare a place for you, He has not forgotten you. And He will not leave you on your own.

When you are not building your trust and faith on Jesus your firm foundation, when the storms of life rage, you will be overtaken. You will be swept away. A house built on any other foundation than Christ will fall down. But if you trust God and build your faith upon Jesus, you can weather any storm. And the one who calms the seas can calm our hearts.
